Discuss2010The students are given a Symbaloo of extended readers related to Ecology. They are over 30 so they can choose any of them to start with. They can install a bookmarklet to control their reading speed and take a ER placement test to assess their reading level. Since they are all PDFs , they can annotate them with Kami, Adobe , Foxit or similar annotating tools. They receive a spreadsheet to choose a title and write their name in the second column. Take down useful notes in the third column. Insert a link to your doc containing main points and reflections on the book their chose in the fourth column.

Read Watch Listen4010The students start reading their book extensively. They are asked to read silently. They may choose to listen to the same material with headsets for those who prefer or need audio support for their reading as the material has embedded audio.

Collaborate4010Students who have read the same or very related book pair and report on main aspects of the experience. They add their thoughts and reflections to the spreadsheet.

Read Watch Listen4010The students select a new book taking into account their strengths and difficulties and start reading it with new strategies and renewed expectations. They follow the same steps as in the start.

Produce40In pairs students prepare quizzes, hangman games, word searches, guess the meaning of the word game, true and false and similar related activities they may propose to showcase their recently acquired vocabulary.

Notes:
This lesson plan is assigned through Edmodo and in F2F meetings. They will be assessed through direct observation and records and in the grading, their own review will be taken into account for an average mark.
