- Description
- This session is to encourage your learners to think about the types of digital content creation that is appropriate in their context and to develop some content.
- Aims
- To discuss the types of digital content found in the learners' work context, investigate tools/apps that can help create digital content, to work in groups to create some content and present that content and the development process back to the class.
- Outcomes
-
- Identify As a class, identify the types of digital content that your learners might be required to develop in their workplace context
- Design In groups, design a digital asset which can be developed for that context
- Produce In groups, produce the piece of digital content
- Reflect In groups, present the digital content to the rest of the class, reflecting on the process of development.

Discuss the types of digital content that you might be required to create in your workplace context - in class
25 minutes)
-
Discuss1530Questions to ask to begin the discussion 1. What type of digital content is used in your context? 2. As a new employee in the workplace what do you think you might be expected to create? 3. What digital tools/apps do you think would be useful? Teacher to create a list of the types of content that arise from the discussion, with the tools/apps that could be used to create that content next to each type. Ask class to make suggestions about tool to use to create list [Smartboard/ flip Chart/ Powerpoint slide],
-
Produce1030Discuss which of the types of content and apps are mentioned the most frequently and which would be most useful to gain some practice in. Teacher to create a subset of content and tools/apps from the main list.

Group work - in class
35 minutes)
-
Investigate1030Split into groups to focus on one tool/app per group, using the most useful tools/apps that arose from the discussion. Each group to research the tool/app, how it works, which digital devices can it be used on, is there a tutorial, does it need to be paid for etc.? If this app cannot be used for any reason (cost, accessibility etc.) the group must find an alternative and investigate the new option. Ask each group how they intend to research the tool/app, which digital tool/apps will they use [search engines using which terms?].
-
Discuss1030Each group to report back to the class about what they have found out about the tool/app and whether it is feasible to use it to produce an asset and the type of asset they are considering producing.
-
Collaborate1530Each group to design a digital asset using the tool/app that they investigated. What digital tools/apps could they use to help develop their design [Smartboard/ flip Chart/ Powerpoint slide],

Present asset and inform the class how it was produced
60 minutes)
-
Produce6030Each group presents their digital asset reflecting on the app/tool they used and how they developed the digital content. Each group presents for 5 minutes each, with questions and feedback for 5 minutes per group. What digital tools/apps can they use to present their content [PowerPoint, Prezi]?
