Description
Extensive reading activity for secondary school's classrooms by using ebooks from English e-Reader website. This activity gives students the opportunity of selecting ebooks that are interesting and appropriate for them to read. It is necessary students can use their own devices whenever they want.
Aims
- To improve reading comprehension, vocabulary and right pronunciation. - To increase knowledge about literary genres. - To practice use of ebooks.

First step: Explore English e-Reader website and find your ebook.

    Teacher explains to the students they are going to explore a new website where they can find and choose the ebook they want to read during next days.
  • Investigate

    Students visit English e-Reader website and choose their preferred ebook by literary genre. Once they choose, they decide if read it on-line or download it.

Students can choose the ebook by level, genre, lenght or type of English (British or American).

    Students will spend the next week on reading the ebook. If they want, they can listen to audiobook files, practicing their pronunciation. While they read, they sign words they don't know.

    During the time spent in the classroom with the teacher, students exchange their reading experience, asking help to find the meaning for words they don't know.

    Each student highlights the features of the literary genre that has been chosen by him/her, creating at the end a map including all the genres, that will be posted on the classroom's wall.

Third step: Re-Create your ebook and publish it on Papyrus.your story website.

    Students discuss about the books they have read, by presenting the stories to the classroom. They will talk about the authors, genres and what they prefer about them.
  • Investigate

    After discussing about the stories, teacher asks to each student to change the final of the ebook just read, inventing a new one. Teacher shows and explains how to use a new website where students will publish their own ebook: papyrus.yourstory.com. They visit it before using it.
